Once both sides have signed, the agreement does not change in place. Either side proposes the change, the other side accepts or refuses it, and the practice prepares a fresh agreement that both sign again. The signed agreement stays in force until then.
Who can do this
Proposing a change, and accepting or refusing one, needs an owner or editor on either side. Preparing the fresh agreement needs an owner or editor of the practice.
Propose a change
In the conversation, open Agreement & scope and press Amend signed terms. Under Changes after signature, open Propose changed terms. Change only what you need:
- How the fee is paid: keep it As signed, or choose One payment or Two payments. With two payments, set First payment (% of the total). Where the fee can change, enter the Professional fee in naira, or leave it blank to keep the signed amount.
- Invoice this replaces: tick the unpaid invoice the new terms replace, so the client is not billed twice. Paid invoices and receipts stay as they are.
- Access to the client’s records: press Change access to change the registers and actions the agreement covers.
- Delivery terms: press Change delivery terms to change what makes a delivery payment due and what the practice hands over. Most changes leave these as signed.
Under Send the proposal, write What changes, a sentence the other side reads first. Set Proposal open until, then press Send amendment proposal.
Only one proposal can be open at a time.
Accept or refuse a change
The proposal appears under Changes after signature with who proposed it. Open Review the exact proposed terms to read them in full. Write why you accept or refuse, then press Accept change or Refuse change. Both sides can read your reason.
The fresh agreement
When a change is accepted, the practice presses Prepare fresh agreement. This creates a new version of the agreement with the changed terms. Both sides review it and sign it as before. Until both have signed, the earlier agreement and its invoices remain in force.
Common questions
"Do we need an amendment to fix a typo before signing?" No. Before both sides sign, the practice uses Revise agreement instead.
"Can we widen access without an amendment?" Within the signed agreement, the practice can request a replacement authority. Anything wider needs an amendment first.
