A DPCO firm practises on Asiri on its licence from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. You apply once. A person at Asiri checks the application against the Commission's register and decides. No workspace exists until they do.
What you need
- your DPCO licence number
- the firm's name as it appears on the licence
- a work email at your firm's own domain. A free mailbox such as Gmail is taken to the individual practitioner application instead.
- a phone number, your company registration number and the registered address
Start the application
- On the sign-up page, under Who is this for?, choose A licensed DPCO firm and press Continue.
- On Join as a DPCO, enter your Work email and press Continue.
- Enter the six-digit Confirmation code we email you and press Confirm address.
Apply as a licensed firm
The application has four steps.
- Licence: enter the DPCO licence number and the Name on the licence.
- About you: your Phone number, Company registration number and Registered address, and optionally Your role at the firm (optional). You can tick Join the Asiri community if you want to.
- What authority are you applying for?: choose Licensed compliance organisation if the firm holds the licence and will name who files for clients, or Advisory practice if you are not claiming filing authority. Under Who will file for clients, give the Named filing partners, How many will file and How many staff altogether. Under What you will do, describe the Services you offer.
- Verification: check the summary and press Send the application.
If you came from a claim link on an unclaimed marketplace listing, the first step says Claiming a register entry and fills in the register's name.
While you wait
The screen says A person will review this one. It may also show What the register already said, last time it was checked, if this number has been read before. Where this stands shows your place in the queue and, where there is a history, how long recent decisions have taken.
Nothing is created until a person decides. You can sign in again at any time to see the decision, and it is also emailed to you.
What the register can say
The reviewer reads the licence on the Commission's register:
- Current, and the name matches: full access.
- Current, but the name differs from the one you gave: you are admitted to build your profile, add people and name filing authority. You cannot be engaged or file until Asiri has resolved the name with you.
- Lapsed: you are admitted as an adviser without filing authority, and your listing says so. Renew with the Commission to file again.
- Revoked: the firm cannot be admitted. The decision and any appeal are the Commission's.
- Already held by an admitted firm: the admissions team contacts you.
- Not on the register: check the number and apply again.
After the decision
If you are admitted, the screen says you are in. Asiri emails you when your practice workspace is ready. Signing in then opens it.
If the application is refused, the screen gives the reason. Press Apply again and say what has changed.
Set up your practice
Your new workspace shows Finish setting up your practice. Press Finish setup. The steps are Your practice and people, How you work, What you charge, Where fees land, Your public listing and Invite your clients. Your progress is kept, so you can stop and come back.
Common questions
"Why was I sent to the practitioner application?" You used a free email address. A firm applies from an address at its own domain.
"How long does a decision take?" There is no fixed time. The waiting screen shows how long recent decisions of the same kind have taken, where there are any.
