Drafting the engagement agreement

How a practice drafts the agreement in the conversation after a quotation is accepted, adds its own clauses or starter templates, and shares it for signature.

Updated

When the company accepts your quotation, the next-step panel in the conversation says Prepare the agreement. You draft the agreement from the accepted quotation and share it for both sides to sign.

Who can do this

An owner or editor of the practice workspace.

Start the draft

In the conversation, open Agreement & scope. Until there is a draft, it says No letter of engagement yet and shows the drafting form.

The accepted quotation supplies the scope, fees and payment schedule. You do not type them again. The agreement always has eight standard clauses, and you can add your own.

Who signs for your practice

Under Who signs for your practice, enter Your name and Your role. The company's signatory gives their own name and role when they sign, so you do not enter theirs.

Additional terms

Under Build your agreement:

  • Start from a template adds Asiri's starter wording for the work. The sets are DPO retainer, Compliance audit and filing, NDPC registration and Common terms. Every clause stays editable. Read them before you share, and take legal advice if you are unsure.
  • Add a clause adds a blank clause with a title and content.
  • Move up, Move down and Remove arrange the clauses you added.

You can add up to 20 clauses of your own.

Share it

Press Share agreement. Drafting does not sign anything. The company can read every clause and ask about any of them before either of you signs.

Questions on clauses

The company can press Ask a question on a clause. An unanswered question blocks both signatures. Open the clause, write Your answer and press Send answer, or revise the agreement instead.

Revising before signature

Until both sides have signed, press Revise agreement. Change what you need, say What changed, and press Share revised agreement. The new version replaces the old one, which stays on the record. Signatures apply to one exact version, so a revision has to be signed afresh.

Signing your side

Tick I have reviewed this agreement and the linked scope, fees and payment schedule. and press Sign this version.

Common questions

"Can I use the company's own contract instead?" The agreement in Asiri is the one both sides sign. You can add the company's terms as clauses of your own.

"Do the templates replace legal advice?" No. They are starter wording. Check them for each engagement.
