Asiri watches your DPCO licence against the Commission's register and tells you as the expiry comes closer. You renew with the Commission yourself. Asiri keeps your checklist and records when you lodged.
Who can do this
Everyone at the firm can read the renewal screen. An owner or editor can tick items in the pack and record the lodgement.
Open the renewal screen
Open Firm account → Practice profile and choose Licence and renewal. If your practice is not listed yet, choose Renewal under Firm account.
The page is headed Licence and renewal. The top shows:
- Licence expires: the date, and how many days are left
- Renewal pack: how many items are in hand
- Lodgement: whether you have recorded lodging
When you are told
Asiri tells the firm at two steps of its own: 90 days before the licence expires, and 30 days before. These are Asiri's steps, not the Commission's. Each step says why it is that number. Under Licence impact and renewal guidance, the screen shows where today sits between those steps and the expiry.
Clients that have granted your firm authority are told seven days before the licence expires, and again if it lapses.
The Commission publishes no turnaround for a renewal decision, so Asiri does not state one. The date you control is the one you lodge on.
Prepare the pack
Under What goes in the pack, the screen lists what a renewal needs:
- Your CAC filings are current
- Your named staff are the ones on the licence
- Professional indemnity cover is in date
- The returns you file for clients are up to date
- Any complaint against the practice is closed or disclosed
Each item says why it matters. Press In hand on each item you have ready. Asiri does not check these. Ticking one records that you say it is in hand.
The pack belongs to one expiry date. If the recorded expiry changes, you start a fresh pack, and the screen says so.
Record that you have lodged
Lodge your renewal with the Commission yourself. Asiri has no channel to the Commission, and no fee passes through Asiri.
Then, under Record that you have lodged, press I have lodged it. You can record it with items still missing, but the screen warns you that the Commission may ask you to complete the application.
Recording it stops the reminders and settles the pack. The screen then says Lodged and waits for the register to change. Asiri cannot see the Commission's queue. The licence watch shows the renewal when the register does.
What stops the day it lapses
What stops the day it lapses lists what a lapse costs:
- filing a return, including for work already finished
- signing an audit opinion
What carries on: you can still be engaged, and you can still open a client workspace. Your card stays in the buyers' list with the register's sentence about the lapse.
Clients affected lists the clients that depend on your licence, and which of them granted authority that runs past your expiry.
Common questions
"How long does the Commission take?" It publishes no turnaround. Lodge well before your expiry.
"A client's return is due and our licence has lapsed. What can we do?" A return needs a firm whose licence is current on the day it goes in. A job that ends in a filing needs another licensed firm for that step.
"Does Asiri renew the licence for us?" No. You lodge with the Commission and pay its fee there. Asiri records what you did.
